Targeted cooling for the hard-to-reach knee zone

The Ice Horse Stifle Wraps have been developed to apply targeted cold therapy to one of the most difficult areas of the horse's body to cool: the knee area of the hind leg.

Due to its location and shape, this zone is less easy to reach with standard leg wraps or loose cold packs. The Ice Horse Stifle Wraps are therefore anatomically designed to fit better around the knee area of the hind leg and keep the cold in the right place.

The wraps come with 4 reusable Cold Inserts. These inserts are placed in the freezer beforehand and then inserted into the wraps. Thanks to the combination of targeted cooling and even compression, these wraps are particularly practical in sports care, recovery, and rehabilitation guidance.

Ice Horse states that the inserts provide therapeutic cooling for more than two hours. The wraps are made from breathable non-neoprene fabric and feature EZY Peel Velcro closures. This allows them to be applied securely yet easily removed, without having to pull hard on the closures.

Why choose Ice Horse Stifle Wraps?

The knee area requires a specific product. Loose ice packs often do not stay in place well, and regular leg wraps are usually not suitable for the shape and position of the knee area on the back of the leg.

The Ice Horse Stifle Wraps have been developed to target that zone more precisely. The anatomical fit helps keep the cold inserts close to the correct region, while the compression allows the wrap to fit more securely.

For sport horses, young horses, ponies, or horses that train intensively, targeted care of the hind leg can be important within overall recovery management. The reusable inserts make the product practical for regular use in the stable, after training, after competition, or during a rehabilitation program under professional supervision.

Suitable for

The Ice Horse Stifle Wraps are suitable for:

  • targeted cold therapy of the knee zone of the hind leg
  • sport horses after training, competition, or intensive work
  • horses in recovery or rehabilitation guidance
  • situations where regular wraps have difficulty reaching the zone
  • full-size horses, ponies, young horses, and yearlings depending on size

Benefits

  • Anatomical fit for the hard-to-reach knee area of the back of the leg
  • Combines targeted cooling with even compression
  • Includes 4 reusable Cold Inserts
  • Breathable non-neoprene material
  • EZY Peel Velcro fasteners for easy application and removal

Use

Place the Cold Inserts in the freezer for a few hours beforehand.

Place the frozen inserts in the Stifle Wraps and apply the wraps around the knee area of the hind leg. Ensure the inserts are correctly positioned on the area you wish to cool. Close the Velcro straps firmly enough so the wrap stays in place, but do not pull unnecessarily tight.

During use, regularly check that the wrap stays in place and that your horse remains comfortable. Always use cold therapy under supervision and do not leave the wraps on longer than necessary.

After use, the inserts can be placed back in the freezer. They can also be refrozen in the wraps when practical.

How do I maintain my wraps?

Clean the wraps with a damp cloth if necessary and let them dry thoroughly before storing them. Remove hair, sand, and dirt around the Velcro closures so that they stay closed properly.

Please note!

Cold therapy is a tool within sports care, leg care, and recovery management. Always consult a veterinarian in case of a clear injury, swelling, pain, lameness, stiffness, or if you have any doubts.

Use the wraps for rehabilitation or chronic knee problems, preferably in consultation with a veterinarian, therapist, or treating professional.

Check that the wraps, fasteners, and inserts are still in good condition before each use. Do not use the product if inserts are leaking or if the wrap is damaged.
