Including 6 cold inserts

Sold by Pair

The Ice Horse Hock Wraps have been developed for horses that require targeted cold therapy around the hock joint. Due to its shape, this is an area that is difficult to cool effectively with standard leg wraps, loose ice packs, or wet cloths.

The wrap is anatomically shaped and open at the talus. This allows the wrap to fit better around the entire hock joint, while applying cold to the correct zones. The combination of targeted cooling and even compression makes these wraps particularly practical after training, competition, transport, or for horses requiring extra support during their recovery routine.

Each wrap comes with reusable Cold Capsule Inserts. These inserts are placed in the freezer beforehand and then inserted into the wrap. They mold around the horse's leg and, according to Ice Horse, provide therapeutic cooling for more than two hours.

The Hock Wraps are made from breathable non-neoprene fabric and feature EZY Peel Velcro closures. This allows them to be applied securely, but also easily removed without pulling hard on the closures.

Why choose Ice Horse Hock Wraps?

The hock joint is a complex and sensitive area, especially in sport horses, older horses, or horses subjected to heavy loads. A well-fitting cooling product is important, as loose cold packs often shift in this area or fail to make sufficient contact.

The Ice Horse Hock Wraps are specifically designed for this region. They enclose the hock joint without completely covering the talus and help hold the Cold Capsule Inserts correctly in place. This allows for more targeted application of cold than with general cooling products.

For horses with heat, swelling, stiffness, or strain around the hock joint, these wraps can be a valuable addition to sports care and recovery management. In cases of osteoarthritis, marked swelling, pain, lameness, or long-standing complaints, professional advice from a veterinarian is always recommended.

Suitable for

The Ice Horse Hock Wraps are suitable for:

  • targeted cold therapy around the ankle joint
  • sport horses after training, competition, or intensive work
  • horses with heat, swelling, or stiffness around the hock
  • older horses or horses in recovery management
  • full-size horses, ponies, young horses, and yearlings depending on size

Benefits

  • Anatomical fit for the ankle joint
  • Open design at the level of the talus
  • Combines targeted cooling with even compression
  • Includes reusable Cold Capsule Inserts
  • EZY Peel Velcro fasteners for practical application and removal

Use

Place the Cold Capsule Inserts in the freezer for a few hours beforehand.

Place the frozen inserts in the Hock Wraps and apply the wrap around the hock joint. Ensure that the opening is correctly positioned around the talus and that the inserts fit snugly against the areas you wish to cool.

Fasten the Velcro straps firmly enough so that the wrap stays in place, but do not pull unnecessarily tight. During use, regularly check that the wrap stays in place and that your horse remains comfortable.

Always use cold therapy under supervision and do not leave the wraps on longer than necessary. After use, the inserts can be placed back in the freezer. They can also be refrozen in the wraps when practical.

How do I maintain my wraps?

Clean the wraps with a damp cloth if necessary and let them dry thoroughly before storing them. Remove hair, sand, and dirt around the Velcro closures so that they stay closed properly.

Please note!

Cold therapy is a tool in sports care, leg care, and recovery management. Always consult a veterinarian in case of a clear injury, swelling, pain, lameness, signs of osteoarthritis, or if in doubt.

For chronic hock problems or rehabilitation, preferably use the wraps in consultation with a veterinarian, therapist, or treating professional.

Check that the wraps, fasteners, and inserts are still in good condition before each use. Do not use the product if inserts are leaking or if the wrap is damaged.
